AutismOklahoma held its 16th annual

AutismOklahoma held its largest annual autism fundraising event and largest collective autism voice in Oklahoma, PieceWalk, on Saturday morning at Scissortail Park.

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — AutismOklahoma held its largest annual autism fundraising event and largest collective autism voice in Oklahoma, PieceWalk, on Saturday morning at Scissortail Park.

The fundraiser is celebrating its 16th year and has become an opportunity to show support for loved ones with autism and to help raise money for the non-profit organization which funds 85 free or low-cost programs by serving 4,500 Oklahoman's yearly.

“PieceWalk is the perfect representation of our programming because it’s engaging, accommodating and impactful,” said Community Impact Director Stacey Weddington. “Families get to connect and have a fun morning together.”

This year's theme was "The Beatles: Come Together." The event held a group walk around the park and included food trucks, music, characters in costumes, a hands-on "Kidz Zone," a resource fair that featured autism-friendly vendors, and "Toto Trot" for dogs.

Teams participating were encouraged to raise funds and receive unique incentives for hitting particular goals.

The nonprofit has raised nearly $164,000 towards its goal of $200,000 which are critical funds for AutismOklahoma's service towards one in 36 Oklahoma families that live with autism.

“We can offer our camps, art and film experiences and socializing opportunities to thousands of participants for low or no cost thanks to generous Oklahomans,” said Weddington.

The event was held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
