'Not true whatsoever': CBS host busts Doug Burgum on false Hunter Biden claim

CBS host Margaret Brennan called out North Dakota Gov. Doug Bugum (R), Donald Trump's surrogate, after he made a claim about Hunter Biden that was "not true whatsoever."

During Sunday's Face the Nation broadcast, Brennan grilled Burgum because he suggested Trump was convicted of a paperwork error in his New York hush money trial.

Brennan noted that Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden's son, has also claimed that he is being prosecuted for a "paperwork error" in a gun case.

"That's now going to federal court because of what he did in purchasing that gun," Brennan said. "That was a paperwork violation. Are you also offended by that? Is that also a miscarriage of justice?"

"Well, I think what's sad for America is the whole weaponization of the system and what we're gonna see more of this," Burgum opined.

"You think it's weaponized against Hunter Biden?" Brennan pressed.

"I think that it is weaponized against President Trump, but if you're gonna talk about equivalency in the courts, then we know that media companies have acknowledged that they worked in conjunction with the federal government to suppress information about Hunter Biden's laptop during an election year," Burgum replied.

"That is not true whatsoever when it comes to this journalist or the journalists involved with this program," Brennan argued.

"Well, then, why were his stories about it taken down off of media companies?" Burgum complained. "Why was it being suppressed during that election? So why talk about the Steele dossier? I mean, we could go back."

"And if we wanna have equivalency, then make sure that we have a level playing field."
