Journalist predicts Spurs could be tempted into selling two first-team midfielders

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has revealed that there could be multiple incomings and outgoings in the midfield department at Tottenham this summer ahead of Ange Postecoglou’s second season in charge.

Pitt-Brooke backs up what we have already heard from other sources over recent weeks by stating that Pierre-Emile Hojbherg’s four-year stay at Spurs is expected to come to an end this summer.

He says that it would not be a surprise if Oliver Skipp also heads out of the door in search of regular first-team football and if Tottenham decide to cash in on Giovani Lo Celso.

The journalist claims that while James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr are seen as ‘integral’ parts of the Spurs squad, the same is not true for Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Spurs could be tempted into selling Bissouma and Bentancur

He alleges in the report that while the North London club do not have plans of offloading either player, they might be tempted if big offers are made for either player, particularly the former Brighton man.

Finally, Pitt-Brooke adds that at least one new midfielder is certain to arrive through the door at Hotspur Way this summer, potentially someone more defensive-minded than the current options at Postecoglou’s disposal.

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect Tottenham to sign a number six as well as a number eight this season, with Hojbjerg, Skipp and Lo Celso all likely to leave. I would be quite surprised if the club decided to offload either Bentancur or Bissouma.
