I grew up in a council house with no money but now make £10k a month from my business – here’s how I did it

A WOMAN who grew up on a council estate has revealed that she now makes £10,000 a month, after setting up her own business.

Lina Akhtar made a promise to her mum when she was 16 years old, that she would one day be rich, so that her mum could retire.

Taking to TikTok, she revealed that she had grown up on a council estate with no money, and said that her family were even homeless at one point.

Lina graduated from University with a First Class Honours degree, and had high hopes of getting a well paid job.

She started her first job, but became very drained, as she had to commute four hours a day, waking up at 5am and not getting home until 8pm.

“I had no time for myself”, she said.

“Every weekend would fly by, and it was Monday again”.

Lina soon realised that her 9-5 wouldn’t get her family out of poverty, so decided to set up her own business instead.

She said: “I heard about rent-to-rent serviced accommodation with AirBnb.

“I could make my 9-5 wages by simply managing landlords’ properties.”

Lina said that she used all of her savings to make sure that the AirBnb’s that she was renting were “to hotel standards” and then began charging £150 a night.

She said that bookings started coming in non-stop, and all of her work began to pay off.

The 27-year-old decided to take on more properties and now earns £10,000 a month from 10 AirBnb’s.

Lina is now able to support her family by taking them travelling, something which she said used to be a “pipe dream” for them.

She also bought a five bedroom house for her family to live in.

“I used to eat one meal a day to save money and relied on benefits“, she said.
