South Siders look to avoid 11 losses in a row
Happy Sunday Sox fans. Today the Chicago White Sox will either continue a historic season and pick up 11 straight losses in a row, or win and end the streak. They’ll play their last game at American Family Field against the Milwaukee Brewers, with Nick Nastrini and Freddy Peralta will be on the mound.

Prior to the game, Andrew Benintendi was placed on the IL with left achilles tendinitis after hurting himself yesterday while running out his ... home run. You can’t make this stuff up. Oscar Colás has been called up, which makes sense because there really aren’t many more ready options in Charlotte. Let’s just hope our manager doesn’t shoot Colás down, again.
Nastrini will get the start, who hasn’t been good with the White Sox but is showing signs of improvement. He is 0-4 with a 9.92 ERA and 2.20 WHIP, and his last two outings since being called up again were against the Toronto Blue Jays. The first game vs. the Jays was one to forget, but the second was just a three-run outburst instead of eight, so that’s progress. The key for him is to go longer into the game, which would be great so we can stay away from our mostly-awful bullpen.
Peralta has been solid for the Brewers this season, as he is 3-3 with a 3.61 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. Peralta is one of the best arms the Brewers have, and his last outing was against the Chicago Cubs went 5 2⁄3 innings with three hits, one run, and 11 strikeouts. Expect to see a lot of those Ks today from the lineup we’re trotting out.

The Brewers are unironically shading the White Sox by resting some of their starters today, and their fans seem to be confident that even a rookie lineup can get the job done. Milwaukee plays the powerful Phillies starting tomorrow, and most of the replies to MKE’s tweet seem to agree that resting up their players for a competitive team that will provide them a hard-fought series makes sense. If that doesn’t show you how sad things have gotten, right?
