Two fire departments tackle Vancouver garage blaze, homeowners displaced

A garage fire in Vancouver prompted response from two different fire departments and displaced homeowners Saturday evening, authorities say.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A garage fire in Vancouver prompted response from two different fire departments and displaced homeowners Saturday evening, authorities say.

Just before 5:30 p.m., 22 firefighters from both Vancouver Fire and Clark County Fire District responded to reports of the fire in a one-story home at 5700 Northeast 45th Street.

While on their way to the scene, reports came in that the fire was likely spreading to a house next door.

On arrival, firefighters noticed flames coming from the garage and began to fight the fire from the outside. Meanwhile, another crew went through the front door, searching for anyone left inside.

Officials say the blaze was brought under control in around 20 minutes.

No injuries or further building damage were reported.
