But he did not appear to shout ‘fore’ – the word that is called out on golf courses to warn spectators of an errant shot.

As a result, the fan was unaware of the ball heading in his direction so was unable to avoid it, and he knocked over.

Sky Sports Golf commentator Mark Roe was shocked by the incident, and after the fan was struck he said: “Oh no no. No, no, no.”

Viewers were also not impressed by the incident and took aim at Lawrence for his lack of care.

One reacted saying: “Should have shouted fore there, unbelievable.”

Another added: “We have a top secret code we use when we play – “FORE!”.”

A third wrote: “Absolute joke that you hit a golf ball and it’s heading for someone and you don’t shout fore.”

And another commented: “So you turn Pro and don’t have to worry about golfing etiquette ????
