Dutch journalist Nicky van der Gijp has revealed that AZ Alkmaar and FC Utrecht have both expressed an interest in signing Troy Parrott after the Tottenham striker impressed on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam.

Eredivisie

Parrott had an outstanding season at Excelsior, with the striker getting better as the campaign went on, being one of the standout players in the relegation/promotion play-offs.

Troy Parrott has put himself in the shop window after season in Holland

The Tottenham man finished the campaign with 17 goals and five assists and it was reported by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold last month that he is on the radar of several Dutch clubs, Serie A sides as well as a few Championship teams.

Speaking to Irish Examiner a few days ago, the 22-year-old admitted that he does not know what next season has in store for him and that he has not spoken to Ange Postecoglou yet.

Eredivisie clubs come forward for Troy Parrott

Van der Gijp has now revealed that the Republic of Ireland international has caught the eye of a couple of Eredivisie sides with the strong finish he had to the campaign.

The journalist told Football Transfers: “Troy Parrott really had great play-offs. At one point it was assembly line work, he scored so many goals. That did not go unnoticed. AZ and Utrecht are interested in him.”

Football Transfers then provides more detail on the matter, explaining that Utrecht view him as an alternative to Sam Lammers, who will return to Rangers after his loan spell, with the Dutch club not being able to sign him permanently.

The report explains that Uterecht are not able to afford a deal for Lammers but they believe that Parrott would be more affordable.

Meanwhile, Alkmaar have allegedly identified the Spurs star as a replacement for star striker Vangelis Pavlidis, who is a wanted man across the continent.

Spurs Web Opinion

My gut feeling is that Tottenham will not rush into a decision regarding Parrott early in the transfer window.

Postecoglou would want to take a close look at the striker during pre-season before making a call and I would not be surprised if the 22-year-old is loaned out again.
