Nottingham Forest on verge of signing 6ft 8in goalkeeper dubbed a ‘giant’ but fans already fear he ‘can’t catch a ball’

NOTTINGHAM FOREST are reportedly on the verge of signing 6ft 8in goalkeeper Carlos Miguel.

The Corinthians star will link up with fellow Brazilian stars Danilo and former team-mate Murillo at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest won’t need to break the bank for Miguel, 25, as he has a release clause worth just £3.4million.

Reports in Brazil have claimed that he will sign a five-year contract with the Premier League outfit.

Forest were not the only club after him as West Ham had tried to hijack the deal.

Fans have had a mixed reaction to the potential arrival after clips of him went viral on social media.

Many were impressed by the goalkeeper’s stature as he towers over many other players and fills the goal.

One posted: “Carlos Miguel is a giant.”

A second wrote: “I am so incredibly sold.”

A third commented: “Exciting.”

However there were a few that were less than impressed by his highlight reel.

One said: “The number of times he blocks shots back into dangerous positions worries me.”

A second joked: “Can’t catch a ball by the looks of it tho lol.”

Another added: “I was sold by a Matt Turner comp, I’m NOT falling for it again.”

Miguel would challenge Matz Sels for the starting position in Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side.

It could also spell the end of Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos’ time at the club after just one season.

The Brazilian still lacks a lot of experience having only played 31 times for Boa EC and Corinthians.

However, in his 23 games for the Brazilian outfit he has kept 10 clean sheets.

He came through the youth academy at Flamengo before moving to Internacional in 2016.

He joined Corinthians in 2021 and has gone on to become the club’s first-choice stopper.

Goalkeeping is in his blood as his father, Jose Claudio, represented Botafogo in the 1970s.
