Report: Tottenham make ‘first contacts’ about signing Brazil international

According to UOL, Tottenham Hotspur have now explored a deal to sign Monaco right-back Vanderson as the North London club study the market for full-backs.

The report backs up what we have heard from various sources over recent weeks by suggesting that Emerson Royal is expected to leave Spurs this summer.

With the 25-year-old attracting interest from Serie A, it is said that Tottenham are prioritising a move for a right-back and could turn to another Brazilian to replace him.

The man in their sights is said to be Vanderson, who has established himself as an important player at Monaco since his move to France back in 2022.

Tottenham are interested in signing Vanderson

The report says that while the Premier League side have not submitted an offer for the 22-year-old just yet, they have already made ‘first contacts behind the scenes’ to understand the cost of the operation and how to ‘proceed in a possible negotiation’.

The publication adds that Spurs are not the only club who are after Vanderson, with the Selecao star also on the radar of Napoli.

Vanderson made 23 appearances for Monaco last season, scoring three goals and providing one assist (transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Vanderson is much more of an attack-minded right-back than Emerson and would be a better fit for Ange’s system.

However, Spurs would probably be leaning towards a homegrown option as a backup to Pedro Porro, which is why Kyle Walker-Peters and Archie Gray might be at the top of their wishlist.

Given Tottenham’s homegrown player predicament, Walker-Peters could be the most sensible option given the fact he came through the club’s academy system and would help to solve the problem.
