‘It looks like an actual wedding dress,’ critics say of mother of the groom’s gown that’s ‘too white’ with a deep plunge
A CONCERNED bride shared the dress her fiance’s mom plans to wear to her wedding, to the horror of critics.
They heavily disapproved of the style that many said resembled a wedding gown.
Redditor Iraglassstanacct shared the controversial wedding attire in a viral post.
“Alright y’all… my fiancé’s mom wants to wear this to our wedding but it seems very pale,” she said.
“Is it too white, or am I overreacting? P.S. I’m genuinely the chillest bride and don’t want to make decisions, but I don’t know why this is bothering me.”
The bride revealed that her fiance’s mother didn’t ask for permission to wear the dress either.
“Clarification: She never asked me to get this… she just bought it!” she said.
“She doesn’t even know what my dress looks like.”
The ensemble, a silky light pink gown with cold shoulder-style sleeves and a deep plunge left viewers worried about the mother of the groom’s intentions.
“I would ask the fiance to have a level-headed word with his mom. She may not realize just how ridiculous (I used a bad word initially and had to change it) she’s being,” said one commenter.
“Or if she does now, at least this would make it clear what kind of person she is. This is really silly, and I’m sorry you’re dealing with it.”
“What is with MOGs wanting to wear wedding gowns to their son’s wedding? Seems a little questionable to me,” said another.
“It’s a beautiful dress that could even be used as a wedding dress. It’s totally not appropriate for MOG dress,” agreed a third.
Some suggested ways for a fair compromise for both parties.
“If she’s hellbent on that style, suggest a darker color. That pale pink will probably show up as white in all the photos,” said one viewer.
“But overall, it’s totally inappropriate for a MOG dress; it looks like an actual wedding gown,” they added.
“They have this same dress in green on the website. You should suggest that. That is definitely too white for a MOG to be wearing,” echoed another.
Other Redditors felt that the color choice was meant to be provocative.
“They have it in emerald green! It seems the blush was an intentional choice,” said one.
“Hard no. Looks too much like a wedding dress. It’s the palest shade of blush; I consider it more of a cream with a blush tone,” said another.
