Electric cars had the largest fall in price, suffering a 20 per cent drop in value year on year.

But those who own a trusty Toyota Land Cruiser had a 6.2 per cent rise year on year and 2.5 per cent increase in a month.

The average asking price for a Land Cruiser is now £30,951.

Other second-hand cars that saw increases in value were the Volkswagen Beetle, Porsche Cayman, and the BMW M5.

Commenting on the data, Auto Trader’s Richard Walker said: “We’ve seen a very robust used car market so far in Q2; retail prices are stabilising, demand is healthy, cars are selling quickly, and critically, transactions are above where they were last year.”

Toyota’s Land Cruiser was first launched in 1951 and is the Japanese car maker’s longest running series of models.

The car with the steepest decline in price was the Volkswagen e-Golf, seeing a 23.9 per cent drop in a year.

An e-Golf is now only worth £11,649.

Auto Trader’s data for May revealed the month showed signs of returning to ‘seasonal norms’ with prices on its platform falling by 0.7 per cent.

Despite the drop, the website said the used car market was robust with levels of demand, speed of sale, and transactions all staying strong.

However, it did warn that many dealers, about 70,000 of them, are advertising their cars below the market average.

The company has recently described the used market

Four out of five second-hand car buyers turn to Auto Trader when searching for a motor, according to its figures.

Revenues rose by 14 per cent to £570million, aided by a 12 per cent jump per retailer to £2,721 a month as customers bought products and services.

The most affordable place to buy a used car across England and Wales last month have been revealed.

New data collected by experts at Motors has revealed 10 regions with the lowest average car price in April, and London, perhaps unsurprisingly, is the most expensive.

It’s better news for potential car-buyers in Wales though, which is by-far the cheapest location listed.

In fact, research found that the average price of a set of wheels in Wales was £14,519 – which is £2,306 below the national average.
