Kids were able to eat free at a Taunton opening over the weekend, according to Retail Week, while a bunch of extra launches can be revealed.

Nine new openings are expected in: Erdington, Stockport, York, Somercotes, Brackness, Culverhouse Cross, Gosport, Hartlepool
and Cowes.

The Cafe Eighty Nine branding is a nod to the year The Range opened, with the original store first welcoming customers in Plymouth in 1989.

The cafes promise cooked food and “premium” barista-made beverages.

Kids can eat free as long as an adult buys a main meal, with breakfast, fish fingers and sausage and chips all available for youngsters.

For parents and adults, the menu offers an all-day English breakfast for £3.99, pizzas for £5.49 and burgers, curries and lasagne with a £6.49 pricetag.

Salads, jacket potatoes and toasties all come as snacks.

The coffee catalogue includes cappuccinos, lattes, espressos and mochas for £1.95.

For summer, Costa iced coffees come as a heat-beating addition to the menu.

In comments to Retail Week about the Taunton opening, The Range boss Alex Simpkin said he was proud the business was dishing out affordable dining.

He added: “At The Range we have committed to refurbishing a number of stores up and down the country and Taunton is one of many to benefit from this stunning new cafe.

“We are incredibly proud of the space, not only does it enable local shoppers to dine affordably pre or post-shop but they get to do so in bright, modern new surroundings.

“A lot of time has been spent making sure that the food and drinks offering provides customers with brilliant quality while keeping prices affordable, especially for families as we enter the summer period.”

Cafe Eighty Nine began to take off earlier this year, welcoming customers in Ashford, Bury and Doncaster.
