Tottenham insider John Wenham believes that a move to Leeds is still on the cards for Joe Rodon this summer despite the club’s failure to win promotion to the Premier League.
Rodon had previously been pretty vocal about feeling at home at Leeds and wanting to stay at the club (The Mirror) but his chances of sealing a move to Elland Road took a massive blow when Daniel Farke’s men lost the Championship playoff final to Southampton.
Rodon spent last season on loan at Leeds in the Championship
A couple of weeks ago, The Daily Mail revealed that Leeds are in a perilous financial position after failing to bounce straight back up and that they need to sell some players in order to offset losses of over £100m.
As a result, it was suggested that a deal to sign the Wales international permanently from Tottenham is unlikely to materialise this summer.
The publication added that several top-flight clubs are now monitoring the 26-year-old’s situation ahead of the summer transfer window.
Joe Rodon to Leeds United is still possible
However, Wenham believes that the Spurs star will still end up at Leeds this summer, backing the Championship club to fund a move for the centre-back by selling some of their assets.
He told Tottenham News: “I expect Leeds will make sales this summer and raise some money. But it was a big blow, that transfer would have 100 per cent been done if Leeds had been promoted.
“I do still think Rodon will join Leeds, but it won’t be as straightforward as it could have been. It will rely on other players being sold first whereas I think the bid would have already gone in had they been promoted.”

One would not be surprised if Rodon’s head is turned if a couple of Premier League clubs make an approach for him over the coming weeks.
The defender might not be keen on waiting and seeing whether Leeds are able to muster up the funds to press ahead with a move for him.
