I’ve had enough of these birds

The Rays fell to the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 on Sunday to fall to 31-34 on the season. The loss marks the third straight in this four-game Orioles series, and the fifth loss to Baltimore since May 31.

Zack Littell took the mound to start this game for the Rays, going six innings allowing three runs and seven hits while striking out three, however the big news on the mound was Baltimore’s Grayson Rodriguez, who carried a perfect game through 5 1/3 innings. He left the game having given up two runs on two hits.

Adley Rutschman was also a standout in the game for Baltimore, tallying six RBI, a run and three hits in the win.

It would be Orioles star Rutschman getting the scoring started for Baltimore with an RBI single in the third inning to make it 1-0.

Anthony Santander would add to this slim lead while the Rays remained hitless with a solo home run in the fourth to make it 2-0. The home run was his 14th of the season.

The Os would expand their lead once more with an RBI triple from Colton Cowser to score Jordan Westburg and make it 3-0.

The Rays would finally respond the following frame with a two-run inning to score the deficit to just one. Brandon Lowe got it started, with a sharp single to left-center with runners on the corners to bring in the first run.

Randy Arozarena would come right up following that and hit a single of his own to bring home Yandy Diaz and make it a 3-2 ballgame.

The Rays wouldn’t hold it that close for long however, as a two-run seventh inning and a grand slam in the eighth inning from Rutschman turned a one-run game into a 9-2 blowout.

The Rays would get one final chance to put some runs on the board in the bottom of the ninth, with runners on second and third and two outs, but a three pitch strikeout from Jose Caballero sealed their fate at a 9-2 final score.

The Rays have just one more chance to take a game from their AL East foes tomorrow in a Monday evening affair inside Tropicana Field. First pitch is set for 6:50 as Tampa Bay looks to end a three game losing skid.
