FDA advisers urge updating fall COVID vaccine to target JN.1 strain

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Government advisers have recommended updating the fall COVID-19 vaccine to target the JN.1 strain, an increasingly common version of the coronavirus.

With COVID-19 cases currently low, more surges are expected, and vaccine manufacturers need time to produce the new shots. Moderna, Pfizer, and Novavax have tested doses updated for the JN.1 variant, which became dominant last winter. However, off
