Stop wasting your money on standing desks – I didn’t want to fork out £200 so raided my cupboard for a free solution
A WOMAN has been labelled a “genius” after revealing how she’s saved herself hundreds on a standing desk.
The desks have become increasingly popular in recent years, with many people choosing to use them alongside a walking pad to get their steps in while they’re at work.
But they aren’t cheap, and you’re looking at forking out about £200 if you want to get one.
So it’s no wonder that Holly’s hack has caused a stir online.
The florist took to TikTok to share a video explaining the clever trick, as she wrote over the top: “If you’ve ever thought about buying an electric standing desk, stop right there and look at me.”
She then showed herself putting up her ironing board, and placing her laptop on the top of it.
Once she’d finished, she used the underneath of the ironing board to lower it down.
Then then pulled up her chair and put her laptop on the top, showing how it could be used as a “regular” desk as well.
“Don’t mind me, home alone, solving urgent problems with genius solutions!” Holly captioned the video.
And people in the comments section were quick to praise her for the ingenious hack.
“Genius! Could you sort me out a walking pad too?” one person wrote.
“I mean… this is honestly a great way to test if a standing desk is actually your thing!” another said.
“You’re onto something here,” a third commented.
“You’ve inspired me,” someone else wrote.
“Great problem solving skills here,” another added.
“Omg why have I never thought of this!” someone else said.
“This is very smart,” another wrote.
As another said: “Wait… I have one of those that I never use! I now have a new use for it! Thank you.”
“Put it to use asap!!” Holly replied.
“Omg you might be on to something… changing the top with a block of wood to make it bigger,” someone else suggested.
“Built in wrist rest too!” another added.
“This is GENIUS!!” someone else said.
While another wrote: “Omg how I didn’t see this video before?
“So easy and free solution. How come I never thought about it?”
But others pointed out problems with the practicality of Holly’s idea.
