‘You scored big time!’ thrifters tell yard sale shopper who scooped up high-end kitchen set worth over $1,000 for $150
ONE shopper snagged a whopping seven-piece kitchenware set at a yard sale.
The discount was so deep, some thrifters went as far as to say they had “scored big time.”
Redditor Current_cost_1597 posted the find on the social media platform.
They had a set of seven different kitchen items, revealing that they spent just $150 on them at a yard sale — a fraction of the manufacturer’s retail price.
“I think the kettle is not useable but it was $10, so I’m not mad,” they said.
They mentioned that while the kettle wasn’t in good shape, they may keep it as a display piece.

The kitchenware set was made by the sought-after Le Creuset brand.
The French cooking essential costs way more than what the yard sale shopper was able to snag them for.
Typically, a haul as large as the Redditor’s would run well over $1,000 when purchased brand new.
“Besides for the one pan that looks slightly used and last image, I think you scored big time,” another Redditor said.
“Everything else looks nearly brand new.”
The original poster clarified that the item in question was the kettle that they don’t plan on using.

The yard sale shopper revealed the final verdict on cleaning up their finds.
“Update on cleaning everything up — the kettle does indeed have chipped enamel, no biggie. I cleaned up the skillet to be practically new,” they said.
“And [I] went to go clean everything else up and discovered the only other pans in the set she used were the oval and the saucier. Each used maybe once or twice. The rest are totally untouched.
“I don’t think I’ll ever be this lucky again lol.”

According to Cookware Insider, 15 quality control officers inspect each of the brand’s items before they’re sold.
Of course, they’re pretty, too, and quite the status symbol.
“You think of it as a simple piece of cookware, but even the silhouette of our Dutch oven is recognizable,” Collier said.
“You could show someone a line drawing without any color, and most people that are familiar with cookware would be able to tell you that it’s specifically a Le Creuset Dutch oven.”
