Police: 10-year-old child hit by car crossing road in Simsbury

A child suffered minor injuries after being hit by a car while crossing Elm Street in Simsbury on Sunday.

A child was hit by a car while crossing a road in Simsbury on Sunday.

The 10-year-old suffered what appeared to be minor injuries after being struck while crossing Elm Street in the Tariffville neighborhood, according to the Simsbury Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Elm and Church Streets shortly after 3:30 p.m. on the report of a crash involving a pedestrian, police said.

According to police, the child was taken to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center for an evaluation and treatment.

The driver involved stopped after the collision and helped the injured child, police said.

Police said a preliminary investigation showed that the child was walking in a crosswalk when a collision occurred involving a driver heading east on Elm Street.

The driver involved did not report any injuries.

The crash is being investigated by police.
