COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Students from the Capital Region BOCES are rebuilding a legend of the road. Students in the automotive trades technology program are repairing a 1967 Corvette convertible and preparing to mount the body on the chassis of the car after three years of restoration.

“It’s a good experience,” said Joe Berube, a student of Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, an aspiring automotive engineer.

Mike McCagg of Capital Region BOCES said work on the car started four years ago when a customer brought the car to the automotive trades technology program and the separate automotive collision technology programs for interior work. Students in both programs worked on and off for the last three school years to rebuild the car which caught the eyes of several visitors of both programs over the years.

“We got to look at it and the frame was basically rotted out. The customer bought a new frame and brought it to us and gave us the go-ahead to do the work,” Automotive Trades Technology Teacher Scott Tessier previously said.
