SCOTT, La. (KLFY) — At Potpourri Village mobile home park in Scott, some residents said they are frustrated with the overflow of trash, and they shouldn't have to live in these types of conditions.
Quan Conley says he's lived in Potpourri Village for nearly three years. He says living in the village has become quite difficult because of the smell of the overflowing trash.
"The overflowing be crazy to where…it be so crazy to where the dumpster people don't want to pick it up," Conley said. "Our house is kind of closer to the dumpster so we pretty much smell everything everybody throwing away…if I would've known that I would've never put my trailer here."
Another resident, who chooses to remain anonymous, says they have also lived in Potpourri Village for three years. he says he feels like the complex are not listening to their residents.
"Enough is enough bro," they said. "We pay enough back here and we can't even do nothing. It's hot, we can't even get in the pool right now. Our car break down, we can't even work on it in the yard or none of that. It's just making some things impossible."
He sends a message to the owners.
"If you was in my situation, you would feel how I feel," they said. "It's good to y'all because y'all collecting the bread. We dishing out and we not comfortable like this."
The property owners of Potpourri Village said the increase of trash comes from people who do not reside in the complex.
"Ownership is disappointed and frustrated that illegal dumping is taking place and hopes to resolve this issue in a timely manner," Potpourri Village co-owner Kris Hodges said, in a statement released to News 10. "Stanley understands their residents' frustrations and has asked for patience while we resolve this issue."
Hodges said the park is in the process of bringing individual garbage bins to each home in the complex in hopes of stopping the illegal dumping from outsiders.
