KANSAS CITY — Class of 2025 three-star big man Kareem Stagg will take an official visit to Charleston in mid-June, he told ZAGSBLOG.com. Stagg, the 6-foot-8, 230-pound big from IMG Academy and the Boo Williams AAU program, has taken just one official visit so far to Old Dominion.

“I’m excited to just have a good time, see what their campus is like,” Stagg said of visiting Charleston.
“See how the coaching staff is. See all the players there. Just to see who’s there and how I can see myself fitting.”

Stagg said currently Michigan, West Virginia, DePaul and Virginia Tech are recruiting him the hardest. He also mentioned Virginia Tech, Georgia and Providence have been on him for the longest period of time. Here is Stagg’s breakdown of some of those programs:

Old Dominion: “It’s not too far from home. I know the coaching staff well, they just got a new coaching staff change. I been trying to build a relationship with them too. So I think I’ll probably get up to ODU soon if they want me to.”

Michigan: “They have a new coaching staff, and I really didn’t watch a lot of Michigan this year. But I know they like to play two bigs so they like to feed the post. I really like that a lot. They feed their bigs and give them touches. And then they had the guard [Dug] McDaniel. He was good. He could score the ball a lot and he knew how to pass it when he needed to.”

West Virginia: “They play hard. That’s probably the main thing. They play hard, they rebound and they defend.” Hearing mostly from assistant coach Chester Frazier.

DePaul: “DePaul contacted my parents, so they haven’t hit me up yet personally.”

Virginia Tech: “I have a good relationship with them. I love how they play. You know, fours that can do it all. They like to play through them and they have good guard play too.”

Georgia: “They guy at Georgia that was recruiting me, coach Akeem [Miskdeen], he just went to Michigan. I should hear from them. I don’t know when, but it should be soon.”

Providence: “My guy coach [Kim] English. That’s my guy. I like the coaches a lot. They all have a great relationship with the players.”

When taking visits, Stagg said he is more focused on the campus life.

“Just the people on campus, socializing with each other,” Stagg said. “That’s always cool to see. Just school in general, not talking about basketball.”

During Session 4 in Kansas City, Stagg averaged 8.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in 20.6 minutes per game. He also shot 15-of-27 (55.6%) from the field.

“I think I’m versatile,” Stagg said of his game. “I can play multiple positions. I can shoot it when needed. I like to finish around the rim a lot. I can handle it up in transition if I need to.”

Stagg believes his shooting has really grown this summer, but said he still needs to work on finishing around the rim and beating people off the dribble. Stagg is ranked the No. 204 player in the 2025 class per 247Sports.

Both of Stagg’s parents played basketball at Delaware State and his brother, Keith Stagg Jr., played JUCO basketball.
