Four crowned European Veteran Champions

The GB Judo Veterans Squad were in action at the European Championships in Sarajevo last week, with the team coming home with twelve medals.

The event also saw the first ever Ne-waza European Judo Championships take place, with the M1 – M3 categories with Danny Harper becoming the first European Champion in Ne-waza in the history of judo.

Back in the traditional format, Fiona Chan won her first European title in the F5 -52kg category. Joyce Malley F7 -63kg claimed her second European title, 6 years after her first in 2018, whilst Danielle Batt added F2 -78kg gold to the World silver she won in 2023.

Colin Francis won his third European silver in the M2 -60kg. Three time World Veteran Champion, Natasha Glassford, had to settle for silver in the F2 -63kg whilst

Kay Andrews F9 -70kg added European silver to the World silver she claimed in 2019. In the M6 -66kg category Edward Semple claimed silver on his international debut.

There were bronze medals for debutants, Calvin Walker-Hall and David McGuire in the M3 -73kg and M8 -100kg categories respectively.

Sam Chraniuk and Giovanny Antalika both took home bronze medals in the F3 -70kg and M4 -66kg categories respectively after winning their first European medals in 2018.

Elsewhere there were 5th place finishes for Ashley Parrette M6 -90kg, Stephen Preece -100kg and Adam Stevens M1 -81kg whilst Kyle Perry M2 -66kg and Caroline Brayson -63kg finished 7th.
