Drivers will need to follow diversions avoid the roadworks and should check what the best route is before they leave.

Roads closed for today and through the week include motorways the M20, M2, and M25 and A-roads such as the A2 and A21.

Two major arterial roads in Kent are set to be closed overnight this week.

Starting tonight, the eastbound carriageway of the M20 will be closed between Junctions nine and 10 near Ashford.

The stretch of road will be resurfaced from 10pm to 6am on three consecutive nights.

A series of overnight closures will also take place on the A2 near Canterbury as crews complete surface works.

The eastbound carriageway will shut from Wincheap to Whitfield on weeknights this week between 8pm and 6am.

The A2 westbound Darenth Interchange to the M25 anticlockwise Junction 2 link road will close between 10pm and 5.30am for painting works.

There will also be closures on the M25 road tonight surrounding London.

The M25 anti-clockwise will close between Junction 2 and Junction 1a from 10pm to 5.30am for painting works.

The M25 anti-clockwise Junction 1b and Junction 2 entry slip roads will also close for work overnight.

These latest closures come after motorists in Norfolk faced days of traffic chaos after Ringland Road shut due to a waterpipe collapse.

The road, near Taverham, was blocked on May 12 after a culvert caved in and created a sinkhole.

Diversions were in place until June 2, when work was finished and the road was reopened.

In March, major sections of the M25 were closed seeing tens of thousands of drivers affected.

Those roadworks saw bridge demolished this morning, to make way for a new gantry as part of a £317million project.

It is said to make entering and exiting the M25 at J10 “easier and safer” by improving traffic flow with extra lanes.
