3 Jamestown residents charged with endangering welfare of a child

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Three Jamestown residents were charged with endangering the welfare of a child Monday afternoon for allegedly having 12.3 grams of crack cocaine at a residence, the Jamestown Police Department announced.

Around 12:20 p.m., the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and Southern Tier Regional Drug Task force conducted a search warrant at a Forest Avenue apartment with the JPD SWAT Team.

A two-year-old child, Gerald Samuels, 18, Janya Samuels, 19, and 21-year-old Simeon Leeper, who is currently on parole through New York State, were inside the residence, officials said.

Police said the crack cocaine was located in the kitchen. All three were arrested and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. While in jail, Gerald Samuels was allegedly found to also be in possession of 9.2 grams of fentanyl.

Gerald Samuels was charged with the following:

  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Endangering the welfare of a child

Janya Samuels and Leeper were both charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

All three are held pending arraignment in the Jamestown City Court.
