The United Nations Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan (UN_STFA) has announced that Denmark has contributed $7.29 million to provide assistance in various sectors, including women’s empowerment.

The agency stated today, Tuesday, June 11, on its social media platform from X that this is Denmark’s third round of aid to Afghanistan.

The United Nations Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan emphasized that this assistance will strengthen coordinated efforts to provide services to the Afghan people, especially in the areas of women’s empowerment, climate change, and permanent solutions for refugees and returnees.

It is worth noting that Denmark provided $6.2 million to Afghanistan earlier last year and an additional $2.2 million in January of this year.

Additionally, the European Union has allocated €150 million in aid to Afghanistan.

This comes as the United Nations and aid agencies have consistently warned of increasing levels of poverty and hunger in Afghanistan, exacerbated by floods and the expulsion of migrants, intensifying the level of need.

Moreover, ongoing restrictions and lack of job opportunities in the country have further worsened the current dire situation, making humanitarian assistance crucial for the Afghan people.
