NYSP continuing search for man missing from Amsterdam since 1989

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police announced they are continuing to investigate the disappearance of George Mateo, 53, of Amsterdam. Mateo has been missing since 1989.

On June 11, 1989, troopers located Mateo's abandoned car near Cranes Hollow Road and the Mohawk River in Amsterdam. State police say he had been seen fishing in the area, but search efforts at the time were unsuccessful, and his family has not heard from him since.

The investigation into Mateo's disappearance remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at (518)457-6811 or email crimetip@troopers.ny.gov.
