Here are some ideas . . .

IN THE FRAME: Print out a lovely snap of you and dad, and pop in a frame. You can also paint your own frame with a £5 set from Hobbycraft. Try personalising it with a slogan like “best dad”.

Use his favourite colours or if you are dab hand with the paint brush, try making a little picture of his favourite things such as chocolate or beer.

ROCKS STAR: This is quite a nice one to do with young children.
Search a local beach for large smooth pebbles and rocks and then take them home to paint. Faces of Dad work well or just write dad.
He can then use them as paperweights or just as decoration.

MAGNIFICENT MAGNETS: Another great one to do with kids, but crafty adults can have a go, too.

Mix up salt dough using 250g of plain flour, 125g of table salt and 125ml of water, stirring in a bowl until in a ball.

Roll out and shape as you like using cookie cutters or just with a knife. Try cutting into letters to spell out dad, or make a heart. If your dad is a football nut, you could do a football shape.

Then, when finished, put on a lined baking sheet and then simply bake for three hours in a pre-heated oven at 50 degrees.

When the shapes are cooled you can paint as you like. Then pop on some self-adhesive magnets – a pack of 15 discs is £2.50 from Hobbycraft.

CERTIFIED BEST: Hobbycraft has free download projects that you can use as the basis for crafts, including a free certificate for the “World’s best dad” which you can personalise with names and dates.

There’s also a fingerprint tree and handprint card, which is perfect for little ones to try.
