Understandably, he took some time away from the spotlight to process his grief.

Having led an epic motorcycle procession in a nod to Dave just last week, Si will now be taking on his first solo project.

The TV star confirmed that he would be striking out on his own for the first time after confirming he will be making an appearance at a top food festival this weekend.

Si will greet fans at the BBC Good Food Summer Weekend at the NEC in Birmingham.

Revealing his appearance in an Instagram video, Si told his followers: “I just want to let you know that the Good Food Summer Show is here and guess what – I’m on.

“On Sunday 16 June I’m gonna be cooking live on and in the big kitchen.

“It’s a brilliant day out with plenty of producers so you can go shopping and loads to choose from.

“Loads of summer cooking information which is why I’m here. Oh and plus you get entry to the BBC Gardner’s Live show as well so there’s literally something for everybody.

“I’ll see you there. I’m really looking forward to it. Come and see us – we’ll have a laugh.”

It marks Si’s first public facing role since the untimely passing of Dave.

His fans also welcomed the news as they shared their delight at Si’s return to work in the comments underneath the video.

One said: “Yey!!! You’ve got this Si! So great to see you smiling, as always!!

“I hope you have a wonderful day! Be prepared, as everyone will want to give you a huge hug. You truly are a fabulous inspirational chef.”
