Nicola Coughlan Just Had a Major Mic Drop Moment Talking About Steamy Scenes in 'Bridgerton'

If you’re anything like us, then you can barely wait until the second part of Bridgerton season 3 gets released later this week. And, of course, much like the previous two seasons of the show, you probably can’t wait to see more steamy scenes between Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton) either.

And while that may be true, there’s one thing Coughlan is already taking a stand against: people calling her “brave” for showing her skin.

In a recent screening in Dublin, Ireland, for example, the Derry Girls alum hilariously swerved that comment about being “brave” for her “body type,” per Us Weekly.

“You know, it is hard, ’cause I think women with my body type — women with perfect breasts — we do not get to see ourselves onscreen enough,” she responded, with the audience breaking out in laughter.

“I am a very proud member of the perfect breasts community,” she added. “I hope you enjoy seeing them.”

Previously, Coughlan has not only talked about owning her body throughout filming, but how she was a champion for those scenes on set.

“I specifically asked for certain lines and moments to be included,” Coughlan told Stylist, per Cosmopolitan. “There’s one scene where I’m very naked on camera, and that was my idea, my choice.”

“It just felt like the biggest ‘f— you’ to all the conversation surrounding my body; it was amazingly empowering,” she admitted. “I felt beautiful in the moment, and I thought: ‘When I’m 80, I want to look back on this and remember how fucking hot I looked!'”

“Not only did I consent to it but I drove it,” Coughlan added of those steamy moments.
