News of her death was shared on the artist’s Facebook page.

Rich Engel, her friend and manager, said he was saddened to share the news of her death.

Tributes have poured in from across the music industry.

“We are saddened,” the singer Sheila Escovedo said.

“The Escovedo family sends our deepest condolences.”

“Rest easy lady,” the jazz trumpeter Tom Browne said.

Fans have been left heartbroken by her death as they reminisced on their memories of watching the star in action.

Her death comes just years after she was the victim of a cruel hoax.

She opened up on that experience in an interview with the lifestyle magazine Essence in 2020.

Bofill said she was inundated with calls after rumors started to spread.

“Friends calling up [saying]. ‘Oh my God, am I talking to the ghost of Angela Bofill?!” she said.

“Thank god it’s not true.”

She revealed that she laughed when people started posting tributes.

Bofill had battled ill health having suffered two strokes in 2006 and 2007.

The stroke in 2006 paralyzed her on one side and she was unable to talk, per The Washington Post.

Bofill made her comeback to the stage in 2011.
