Report: Lazio are interested in making a move to sign Tottenham player
According to a report in La Repubblica (as relayed by Calciomercato), Lazio are set to make a move for Giovani Lo Celso this summer after passing up on the chance to sign the Tottenham man last summer.
Lazio could have signed Lo Celso last summer
The report states that Lazio had a chance to sign Lo Celso 12 months ago but the club’s former head coach, Maurizio Sarri, decided that he did not want the player.
With Marco Baroni now taking over from Sarri, the Italian club are now expected to reignite their interest in the Argentine.
It is pointed out that while Lazio are focussing on signing players below 25 years of age this summer, the club’s president, Claudio Lotito, and sporting director, Angelo Mariano Fabiani, are ready to make an exception for Lo Celso.
This is because they admire the 28-year-old’s qualities and they believe that he would be an extremely valuable addition to the squad.
Lo Celso wants to leave Tottenham this summer
The report claims that the former Real Betis man is keen to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in search of regular first-team football this summer and that €10m (£8.4m) would be enough to prise him away.
Finally, the publication adds that Biancocelesti would have to ‘decide quickly’ on a move for Lo Celso as several other clubs, including Napoli, are circling over the midfielder.

Unsurprisingly, it seems both Lo Celso and Hojbjerg are quite highly sought after among clubs in Spain and Italy.
Both players will ultimately have a big say on where they end up as they are both in a powerful position since they have just a year left on their respective deals.
