1 injured, cited after Sandy 3-vehicle crash briefly closes down Highway 26

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A teen was cited for reckless driving after being injured in a crash involving three vehicles, forcing Highway 26 to briefly close in Sandy Friday evening, authorities say.

Just after 6 p.m., Sandy police officers, Clackamas Fire crews and AMR responded to reports of a crash in the intersection of Highway 26 and 362nd Avenue.

On arrival, police closed down Highway 26 for further investigation, while medical crews tended to an injured driver.

The 18-year-old driver from Bend who was injured in the crash was taken to the hospital. Police say he was later given a citation for reckless driving, but added impairment was not a factor in this crash.

Officials say the highway was reopened approximately 40 minutes after they arrived on scene.
