All 41 ‘Shōgun’ Emmy submissions: Could it break this ‘Game of Thrones’ record?

Just how big will “Shōgun” be at the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards? The historical drama set in feudal Japan is cited 41 times across 25 categories on the nominating ballots made public by the television academy on June 13. With lavish production values that give it strong potential in Creative Arts categories, could the series potentially break the record for the most Emmy victories in a single year? Scroll down to see its complete list of contenders.

The program with the most Emmys in one year was the 2008 limited series “John Adams,” which prevailed 13 times. Among continuing drama series, the record belongs to “Game of Thrones,” which won 12 awards at three different ceremonies. The lavish “Shōgun” certainly has the potential to match or exceed those numbers, especially with other Creative Arts heavy-hitters like “The Last of Us” and “House of the Dragon” ineligible in this Emmy cycle.

But wait, there’s more. There were no publicized ballots for special visual effects, a field where “Shōgun” very likely submitted. New Emmy rules this year stipulate, “A panel comprised of voting members from the Special Visual Effects Peer Group will prescreen all submissions to determine the nominations.” So that’s probably another chance for the FX series to shatter Emmy records. How many of the following submissions do you think will turn into nominations and wins?
