Ahmad Vahidi, Iran’s Interior Minister, has reiterated the expulsion of “illegal immigrants” from the country, stating that Iran cannot accept these individuals.

According to Iranian media reports, he made these remarks on Friday, June 14, on the sidelines of a meeting in Fars.

The Iranian official emphasized that they cannot accept “illegal immigrants” because, according to principles, “the acceptance ceiling is a specific number based on labor market needs and job atlas.”

He also called for the organization and supervision of immigrants who do not face obstacles to their presence in the country.

Previously, Mr. Vahidi has consistently emphasized the expulsion of “illegal immigrants,” most of whom are Afghan citizens, and urged the interim government officials to facilitate the return of these immigrants.

Additionally, the Iranian Interior Minister stated in a press conference last month that 1.3 million illegal immigrants were expelled from the country over the past year.

Iranian officials typically refer to Afghan immigrants as “foreign nationals,” and the majority of immigrants in the country are Afghan citizens.
