Gloversville man sentenced in bank robbery conspiracy

A Gloversville man was sentenced on Friday for his involvement with a bank robbery conspiracy, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Gloversville man was sentenced on Friday for his involvement with a bank robbery conspiracy, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Luke Kenna, 44, will face three years and five months in prison.

Charges

  • Conspiring to commit bank robbery
  • Illegally possessing a firearm

Michael Brown was also sentenced on Friday for playing a part in the conspiracy. Brown will face three years and one month in prison.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says that Kenna and Brown admitted to agreeing and planning on committing an armed robbery at a bank branch in Johnstown. As a part of the conspiracy, Kenna allegedly conducted surveillance of the bank and purchased items, such as weapons, to commit the robbery.

Kenna admitted to owning a rifle after being previously convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. Kenna and Brown will also face three years of probation upon release from prison and Kenna had to forfeit the rifle.

A third conspirator, Brian Tierney, of Lynchburg, Virginia, also pleaded guilty to this conspiracy and will be sentenced on August 16.
