Report: Ex-Cavaliers assistant Greg Buckner joins Rivers’ staff in Milwaukee
Buckner had been with Cleveland since 2020 as an assistant and associate head coach.
As the coaching carousel spins around the league, the Milwaukee Bucks continue adding to their staff as well. Bucks head coach Doc Rivers has reportedly hired former Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach Greg Buckner according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

Buckner, who joined the Cavs in 2020, was named associate head coach under J.B. Bickerstaff in 2022 after acting as an assistant before that. Prior to joining the Cavs, Buckner was an assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies from 2017-2019. Bickerstaff was also in Memphis at the time.
The Bucks reportedly added former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham to their staff as well. With the Cavs moving on from Bickerstaff, it's fair game for other teams to poach assistants. Milwaukee let go of three other assistants earlier in May, so the hirings of Ham and Buckner are likely to replace the departed.
Meanwhile, the Cavs coaching search is ongoing, with Kenny Atkinson and James Borrego at the top of the list. Once a hire is made, it would be safe to assume that the Cavs themselves will be changing out assistants as well.
