Joe Alwyn Indirectly Addresses Rumor This 'Tortured Poets Department' Songs is About Him

Joe Alwyn indirectly cleared the air about one of Taylor Swift‘s songs, which was rumored to be about him.

After listening to The Tortured Poets Department for the first time earlier this year, Swifties hypothesized that the song “The Black Dog” was about the pop titan’s relationship with the Kinds of Kindness actor.

“And so I watch as you walk – into some bar called The Black Dog – and pierce new holes in my heart,” Taylor sang on the track.

It turns out that there is a bar called The Black Dog in an area of London called Vauxhall. Shortly after the album premiered, the owner of the bar hinted that Joe was sometimes a patron of it. This led to speculation that the song was about him.

He cleared the air during a recent interview.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Joe was asked about what he does in his free time.

“It probably looks pretty similar to yours, or anyone’s — seeing friends, traveling, going to the pub,” he told the outlet, via People.

The interviewer responded by asking if he had patronized The Black Dog. However, Joe made it pretty clear that he’d never been that, saying, “I’ve never been to Vauxhall.”

Despite the denial, the outlet noted that he responded while “smiling a smile that hints that there is more to say.”

While “The Black Dog” might not be about Joe, we rounded up 21 other songs that do seem to be about the pair’s former relationship.

Joe also opened up about the split for the first time in his recent interview. See what he had to say.
