Cop should be SACKED for ramming car into escaped calf, blasts owner’s partner who fears animal ‘could die of shock’
A COP who rammed a car into an escaped calf should be sacked, rage the animal’s owners.
In shocking scenes on Friday night, a patrol vehicle purposely drove at the 10-month old cow, named Beau Lucy, twice on a main road in Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey.
The breeding calf has no broken bones following the horror collision but could still die of shock, said Kate, the partner of the farmer owner.
She told Sky News: “It looked like they tried to kill it.
“Honestly, when I saw the video, I thought he should lose his job. I just thought it was disgusting, I couldn’t believe it.
“I don’t know whether she will live. She could died of the shock but hopefully she’ll live.”
Kate said Beau Lucy had been put on well-fenced Staines Moor to graze but believes she escaped by swimming across the river.
The copper made the decision to make contact with Beau Lucy after many failed attempts to capture her.
Surrey Police said they could only stop her by using a police car.
Disturbing videos show the squad car hitting the cow at speed – knocking it down and forcing it to skid down the road.
As she tried to get back on her feet, the motor then appears to lunge forward for a second time.
The distressed calf’s head and part of its torso seem to become stuck under the front of the vehicle.
Two officers then get out of the car to access the situation before backup arrives.
In the clip, one member of the public can be heard shouting: “What are you doing that for?”
The force has now referred itself to the IOPC watchdog.
Chief Inspector Sam Adcock said: “I know that this has caused distress and I’d like to thank the community for their concern.

THE Home Secretary James Cleverly spoke out following the incident on Friday night
Cleverly blasted Surrey Police and demanded an “urgent explanation”.
He said: “I can think of no reasonable need for this action.
“I’ve asked for a full, urgent explanation for this.
“It appears to be unnecessarily heavy handed.”
“The decision to use the police car is one that was only taken after other methods to stop the cow had failed.
“There will be an investigation into the actions that led to this, but our focus at all times is on ensuring the safety of the public.
“I know there are videos circulating of this incident, which the public may find distressing.
“I would ask that these videos are sent directly to us to help with our investigation.”
Wildlife presenter Chris Packham slammed the “monster” cop.
He said: ” I don’t know where to start with this.
“But it’s surely illegal and must be investigated and prosecuted. What sort of monster rams a calf? Twice?”
The RSPCA added: “This is a very upsetting and distressing video to watch.
“We will be getting in touch with the police urgently to understand the circumstances as to what happened.”
