We live off grid in a tiny home – we save thousands of pounds every month and people are so jealous of our freedom

TWO best friends have revealed that they live off grid in a tiny home and have raved about the affordability of their lifestyle.

For the past two and a half years, the friends have been turning it into a home for them and their pets – seven chickens, two dogs and three cats.

Their vision was to “make the shed look like a house and not a storage shed” and they have dedicated all of their DIY projects to giving it a “homely feel”.

The best friends are originally from Nashville but their new off-grid home is in the Appalachian Mountains in Tennessee.

They make their living through blogging and content creation, sharing regular updates on their tiny home transformation online.

Now, the pair have shared an insight into the cost of their 350 square foot home, leaving many open-mouthed.

Posting online, the friends explained: “With every complete project it feels more and more like our home.

“We are making the most of every inch of space possible.”

Sharing a breakdown of their monthly costs to live off grid during the summer, when it comes to getting wood for cooking and campfires, the duo explained that it costs them just $12.50 [£9.80].

Where electricity is concerned, the pair have covered their roof in solar panels, meaning their monthly costs are £0.

For the internet, the couple pay $70 [£55] a month, whilst their propane gas, which they use for cooking and heating water, is $17 [£13].

Not only this, but they don’t have to pay anything for their water and their property tax is just $5 [£3.90].

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @heywanderer, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as at the time of writing, it had quickly gone viral and racked up two million views in just three days.

We spend our money to gain freedom

At the same time, one user shared: “Well you gotta buy the land and buy the solar panels first in order to get to zero payments.”

In response, the pair replied: “You’re absolutely right about that. The point is that some people spend their money to further entrap themselves but we spend our money to gain freedom.”
