Ongoing clashes in Southern Gaza: 8 Israeli soldiers and 19 Palestinians killed
The Israeli army has announced that eight of its soldiers were killed during an operation in southern Gaza.
Daniel Hagari, the Israeli army spokesperson, stated in a press release that the explosion occurred on Saturday morning, June 15, in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.
Reuters reported that the soldiers were all members of a combat engineering unit and were killed when an explosion targeted their armored vehicle in the Tel Sultan area west of Rafah.
Despite global reactions, Israeli forces continue their advance in southern Gaza. The latest reports indicate that at least 19 Palestinians have been killed in these attacks.
More than eight months into the conflict between Israel and Hamas, ceasefire talks have remained unsuccessful. The United Nations has warned of an escalating humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
Since the start of the conflict, over 37,296 Palestinians have been killed and millions displaced. Israeli forces report the loss of 309 soldiers since the beginning of the military operations in Gaza.
