Boost for Liverpool as Chelsea star’s potential transfer to another club goes “cold”

Liverpool may reportedly have been handed a significant transfer boost as Chelsea defender Levi Colwill’s potential move to Bayern Munich seems to have gone ‘cold’.

The England international has been a key player for the Blues since returning to Stamford Bridge from an impressive loan spell at Brighton, and he surely has a big future for the club if he stays put.

However, with Chelsea now finding themselves out of the Champions League for a few years, Colwill is unsurprisingly attracting interest from some of Europe’s elite, including Bayern Munich.

However, Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany has now suggested that Bayern’s interest has gone cold due to Chelsea’s asking price for the 21-year-old.

Bayern are known to be in the hunt for signings in defence this summer, but their focus now seems to be on raiding their rivals Bayer Leverkusen for the signing of Jonathan Tah to bolster their back line.

Colwill transfer: Good news for Liverpool as Bayern deal unlikely?

Colwill to Liverpool is another story we’ve heard about recently as the Reds also surely need a long-term signing at the back to replace the ageing Virgil van Dijk.

If Bayern are no longer in the running that should only be good news for the Merseyside giants, though one imagines CFC will be even less keen to sell such a talented young player to one of their biggest Premier League rivals.

Levi Colwill in action for Chelsea

Colwill could be a superb addition to this LFC squad, but if he is to leave Chelsea it would surely make more sense to sell him abroad if possible.

Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked as long-standing admirers of Colwill, so that could perhaps be one to watch in the near future.

Liverpool, meanwhile, don’t tend to splash the cash on big names like this too often, so one imagines we’ll see them turn to alternatives soon enough.
