‘Got to have it’ say B&M shoppers rushing to buy new Cadbury chocolate bar based on an iconic Australian snack

B&M shoppers are rushing out to buy a new Cadbury bar based on an iconic Australian dessert.

The discounter often imports stock from Down Under to customer fanfare including most recently Dairy Milk Raspberry bars.

Cadbury is selling a new Aussie-themed chocolate bar

And one other Aussie-themed snack that’s made its way on to shelves in recent weeks is proving more than popular.

B&M started stocking the small Dairy Milk Lamington slices bar at the end of the May, but some shoppers are only just realising.

One found it in their local branch, posting a photo of its on the Newfoodsuk Facebook page.

Shoppers have been quick to react, with plenty keen to snap up the chocolate bar that’s based on the classic Aussie Lamington cake.

One said “got to have it” while another added “looks yummy”.

Meanwhile, a third simply added “delicious” and a fourth chimed in “I’ll have to go and get some to try”.

B&M said the 50g bar, which costs £1 and combines Dairy Milk chocolate with raspberry jam flavoured pieces and desiccated coconut, is available across limited stores, so it might be worth calling your local branch to see if it has any in stock before heading out.

Remember, you can find your nearest B&M branch by using the retailer’s store finder tool on its website.

You just have to enter your city, town or postcode and it will bring up your nearest store.

Of course, whenever buying anything like this, make sure you shop around to see where to get the best deal.

Websites like Trolley and Price Spy let you compare prices on thousands of products to see which retailer is selling them cheapest.

You can use the Google Shopping/Product tab to quickly scan the internet too.

We had a quick look online to see if any other retailers are selling the Cadbury Lamington bar and if they have it cheaper.

However, as the bar is imported from Australia, we couldn’t find any major retailers which sell it.

How to save money on chocolate

CONSUMER reporter Sam Walker explains how to save money on your next chocolate haul...

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed on flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

It’s not the first time in recent months B&M shoppers have been left rushing out to their nearest branch to snap up the latest new chocolate bar.

Cadbury fans have been left raving over an Iced Latte version of Twirls that has made its way on to shelves.

The new flavour, described as a “heavenly blend of coffee and chocolate” and a fan favourite Down Under, has been met with fanfare by customers.

Posting online, one said “looks like a trip to B&M tomorrow” while another gushed “oh my god must get some”.

Choc fans have been left buzzing after spotting Perky Nana banana-flavoured bars from New Zealand on shelves too.

Chocolate lovers were left rejoicing when Cadbury made a huge change to Dairy Milk bars earlier this year too.

The chocolatier marked its 200th anniversary by bringing back seven iconic Dairy Milk designs spanning the last 100 years.

Shoppers have been going wild for rare Aussie Cherry Wipes to Pinky’s in recent months too.

How to save money at B&M

Shoppers have saved hundreds of pounds a year by using B&M’s scanner app.

The scanner lets you see if an item’s price is cheaper than advertised on the shop floor label.

Products that are typically discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift.

The app is free to download off the B&M Stores mobile app via Google Play or the Apple App Store.

According to one ex-B&M manager, you’ll want to visit your local branch at 10am on a Wednesday too.

This is when staff slash items to as little as 10p to clear excess stock and make way for new products.

Remember you can find your nearest B&M branch by using the retailer’s store locator tool on its website.
