Nineties dance legend, 62, has barely aged in 33 years since smash hit single and selling millions of records

IT has been more than thirty years since her smash hit single, Gypsy Woman stormed the charts, but US singer Crystal Waters has hardly aged a day.

The 62-year-old who has sold more than 7 million records worldwide, still has the smooth complexion and wrinkle free skin of a woman half her age.

The house music queen still appears to be very much in demand as a performer, offering die-hard fans that unforgettable vibe of 90s nostalgia.

Born in New Jersey, Crystal came from a musical background, her father was the jazz musician Junior Waters and her great aunt, Ethel Waters was one of the first black singers to appear in a Hollywood film.

After studying computer science at Howard University, she began making music and signed a contract with Mercury Records in 1989.

Her single Makin Happy shot to Number 1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs.  In 1994 she released her album, Storyteller with her hit single,100 per cent Pure Love which hit number 1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs. Meanwhile her hit song Gypsy Woman was on the charts for 16 weeks.

In 2007 her album, Destination Calabria with Alex Gaudino had several hits in the Billboard top 100.

In 2026 Billboard magazine ranked her as one of the most successful dance artists of all time.

Her accolades include three American Music Awards and an MTV music video nomination, four Billboard Music Award nominations and twelve number 1 Billboard dance chat hits.

Gypsy Woman has been sampled hundreds of time and has old millions of records worldwide.
