Dita von Teese shares her secret habit for having great skin at 51: ‘I wish somebody had told me when I was young’
RENOWNED burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese has revealed the secret to her youthful skin at 51 years old.
She admitted that she wished someone had told her this skincare trick earlier, but now she can’t go without it.

The Queen of Burlesque recently revealed the secret to her flawless skin on the Dumb Blonde podcast.
Like many beauty experts, she praised the benefits of applying sunscreen every day and reapplying it frequently.
But that wasn’t the only anti-aging method she integrated into her lifestyle.
She insisted that the way you sleep may also be unknowingly aging you.
During the podcast, she said that “no one wants to hear this” but she could no longer gatekeep the beauty tip.
“I wish somebody would have told me when I was young how good it is for you to sleep on your back,” she said.
The sleeping technique took time to master and Dita had to retrain herself to sleep not on her side.
She realized where specific wrinkles were coming from, by sleeping with her face on the pillow.
“I taught myself to sleep on my back and it has worked miracles,” she said in the interview.
The correlation between sleeping on your back and reducing fine lines and wrinkles also relates to gravity.
Experts at the Sleep Foundation said sleeping on your back can promote spinal alignment and reduce heartburn or acid reflux.
Although they didn’t say it decreases fine lines and wrinkles, they supported the theory that sleeping on your side could.
“When side or stomach sleeping, your face presses against your pillow. This pressure can lead to fine lines and wrinkles,” they explained.

Dita also practices mindful meditative practices with the app Insight Timer.
“I lay there like a zombie and just close my eyes, sleep with my palms up,” she explained.
She admitted that sometimes she does move throughout the night but catches herself because she’s a light sleeper.
If for whatever reason she does have to sleep on her side, she said she has “gotten good at” her pillow placement, so her face isn’t smushed against it.
The burlesque icon emphasized how important it is to take care of your skin and start healthy practices early.
“It’s all fun and games until you start realizing the collagen is really going,” she said.
