SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Schenectady man was sentenced to seven years in prison for stabbing his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend in her home. The prison sentence will be followed by five years of probation and orders of protection for the victims.

Dexter Silen, 22, plead guilty in April to two counts of attempted assault. The Schenectady County District Attorney's Office said Silen broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment in December 2023 and slashed her and her new boyfriend with a pocket knife.

The victims were treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Silen was found a few hours after the attack with blood from the victims still on his clothes.
