Kylian Mbappe INJURY! French Star Suffers Broken Nose, Likely to be Ruled Out of EURO 2024?

Düsseldorf: It was a massive setback as French star Kylian Mbappe picked up an injury during an EURO 2024 clash with Austria on Monday in Dusseldorf. Despite the French win, the Mbappe injury could haunt them. It would now be interesting to see if he can be a part of the side for the match against Netherlands on Friday. The prolific striker suffered a broken nose during the game and by the looks of it – it does not look good. Calling it ‘unfortunate’, French coach Didier Deschamps confirmed that Mbappe is not doing well.

“He’s not doing well. He’s with the medical staff. I cannot tell you anything else,” Deschamps said after the 1-0 win against Austria. “His nose got badly hit. We need to check that out. It is just really unfortunate right now,” said coach Didier Deschamps.

Pressed on whether Mbappé had gone to hospital, Deschamps pleaded ignorance. “I don’t know,” he insisted. “The medical staff is looking after him. I don’t have the evidence in my hands. The staff are checking him out. I saw him on the massage table. He didn’t get off lightly. It remains to be seen. But you know me, when I don’t have the facts I keep shtumm.”

Despite Mbappe’s injury, France managed to edge out Austria 1-0.

While Mbappe’s injury cast a shadow over the victory, a huge bonus for France was the sight of 2018 World Cup winner N’Golo Kante, a surprise pick for the squad after a two-year absence, producing a majestic display at the heart of midfield.
