Fans convinced Premier League is ‘rigged’ after 2024/25 fixtures are released

FOOTIE fans are convinced the Premier League is “RIGGED” after the release of the fixtures for the 2024/25 season.

All 20 teams learned their fates for the opening weekend of the 24/25 campaign on Tuesday morning.

Manchester United kick off the season on Friday, August 16 welcoming Fulham to Old Trafford.

Defending champions Manchester City face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 18 in the tastiest of the opening weekend fixtures.

Ipswich Town were handed a baptism of fire in their first Premier League match in over 22 years with a home game against Liverpool.

Arsenal have a tough start to the campaign, facing three of last season’s top five in their first five matches.

And that prompted one of the Emirates faithful to say: “Aston Villa, Spurs and City all away in our first five fixtures.

“Not rigged at all.”

Another said: “Both Spurs and City away? Are they having a laugh?

“If that’s not fixed then dunno what is.”

And another said: “The start of the season looks dreadful but, dare I say it, our run-in looks really good.”

One remarked: “I’ve just seen City’s and it’s absolutely rigged in their favour.”

Liverpool’s trip to Portman Road will be the seventh time in Premier League history they’ve faced a promoted side in their season opener.

Reacting to the news, one fan simply said: “Rigged.”

Another said with a laughing GIF: “Liverpool with a newly promoted side on the opening day again.”

One asked: “Why do Liverpool always play with a newly-promoted side in Gameweek 1?”

A Norwich fan also chimed in with suggestions of the season being “rigged” after seeing The Tractor Boys’ first two matches of the campaign – which were the same as the Canaries had in their last Prem stay.

They tweeted: “The Premier League schedule is so rigged.

“Ipswich with the same opening two games as us last time.

“Their May is much more attractive though.”

In total, there will be 380 Premier League matches spread across 33 weekends, four midweek rounds of fixtures and a Bank Holiday matchweek.
