Revealed: Why Trump especially 'hates' the current House Freedom Caucus chairman

Donald Trump is on the warpath to unseat Rep. Bob Good (R-VA), the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, and now Politico's Playbook has revealed the origin of the former president's grudge.

While it's generally known that Trump is bitter at Good after he endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president last year, Playbook writes that Trump especially "hates" Good because of the timing of his endorsement.

"According to a person close to Trump, Good’s betrayal was especially stinging to the former president because it came on the same day (May 9, 2023) that a jury found Trump liable for the sexual abuse and defamation of E. Jean Carroll," the publication writes.

“If he’s reelected, he will stab Virginia in the back, sort of like he did with me," Trump said of Good earlier this week, according to Playbook.

In fact, Politico reports that Good's colleagues are practically lining up to endorse his primary opponent, John Maguire.

“More than two dozen Hill GOP staffers led by Rep. William Timmons (R-SC) chartered a bus from Washington on Saturday to meet with and campaign for McGuire,” Politico's Olivia Beavers reports. “Among quite a few GOP colleagues, Good is nicknamed ‘Bob Bad.’”
