Warren County provides funding for septic systems
LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Warren County property owners can apply for septic system improvement funding through the county. Select property owners are eligible for grants up to 50% of project funding, up to $10,000, to improve their septic systems through replacements or upgrades to their current system.
Landowners on Schroon Lake, Brant Lake, Loon Lake, Trout Lake, Schroon River, and more can check their eligibility through the online application system. The Warren County Planning and Community Department oversees the program and will distribute $1,375,000.
The county has a waiting list from past funding applications that will likely use all the new funding. Still, property owners are encouraged to apply as the county may secure additional funding from the state.
Warren County began distributing the New York State Septic System Replacement Program funding in 2021. Warren County Planner Ethan Gaddy said preserving water quality is vital, and property owners eligible for funding should take advantage of the program to keep county watersheds clean.
"Due to program limits associated with the NYSDEC Septic Replacement program, our department will apply for septic replacement funds via alternative programs this year," Gaddy said. "Submitting an application via the online portal will help us prove that there is a strong demand for additional funding."
